From the Helsinki-Vantaa airport

There are two different kinds of taxis at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport: regular and airport taxis. Regular taxis are rather expensive but fast. Taxis to downtown Helsinki from the airport are almost as expensive as a ride from the airport to Otaniemi. Airport taxi usually takes several persons at a time (with different destinations) and is therefore slower but also less expensive.

If you wish to use public transport, there is a Finnair City Bus from the airport to the main railway station in downtown Helsinki. Ticket costs 5,20 EUR (one-way) and schedules are also available.

Regular bus lines from the airport to downtown Helsinki are the cheapest way to travel (bus number 615 whose schedules are here). Ticket costs 3,60 EUR (valid for 90 min in any public transportation).

Fastest Busses from downtown Helsinki to Otaniemi leave from the Kamppi bus station, which is about 400 meters to the west from the main railway station. Lines 102/102T (platform 41) and 103 (platform 42) go to Otaniemi in about 15-20 minutes. You can also use lines 194 and 195, which are a bit slower and leave from Eliel square (Elielinaukio).
